Atlantic City, N.J. - Detectives with the New Jersey State Police Casino Unit on Friday charged two AC residents after they allegedly grabbed a purse from a woman and ran out of the Resorts Hotel and Casino on Thursday night.
Lesse Lewis, 20, and Nasiyr McNeil, 21, were caught by casino security as they tried to flee the scene. The pair was charged with conspiracy to commit robbery.
During processing, detectives found that McNeil was a wanted person out of Pennsylvania, so he was additionally charged with being a fugitive from justice.
Both men were lodged in Atlantic County jail, Lewis on $100,000 bail and McNeil on a no bail warrant.
On Friday, State Police detectives were contacted by Borgata security about a similar theft that occurred a little more than an hour before the Resorts incident. A review of the surveillance footage showed the same two men allegedly steal cash from a male patron at the Borgata. That man did not want to pursue the matter at that time. The footage showed that they had likely changed their clothes between the two crimes.
The detectives additionally charged Lewis and Nasiyr with theft and conspiracy to commit theft in connection with the Borgata crime.
