State Police Arrest Man with 205 Fraudulent Credit Cards

Woodbridge Township, N.J. - A New Jersey State Trooper arrested a Brooklyn man for stealing $17 of gas and ended up recovering more than $100,000 worth of fraudulent credit cards.

On November 11, at approximately 7:15 p.m. dispatchers put out a B.O.L.O. on a white Infiniti G35 sedan that had just left the Thomas Edison Service Area Sunoco for theft of fuel by use of a fraudulent credit card. When the gas attendant approached the driver, the driver grabbed the credit card and headed southbound on the Turnpike.

Trooper Adam Brozek of Troop “D” Cranbury Station located and stopped the vehicle near the Molly Pitcher Service Area. The driver, Gianni Simon, 20, of Brooklyn was arrested for the theft. He was found to be in possession of the credit card in question. He was also found to have an active warrant.

The investigation led troopers to obtain a search warrant for the vehicle on November 14, during which they found an additional 204 suspected fraudulent credit cards.

Simon was charged with Possession of a Fraudulent Credit Card, Use of a Fraudulent Credit Card, and Theft of Services. Simon was lodged in Middlesex County Jail with bail set at $50,000 full cash.

The United States Postal Inspection Service is working cooperatively on the investigation with State Police Detectives.
