What is the Office of Employee & Organization Development? |

The Office of Employee and Organization Development provides confidential services through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM), Management and Organization Services (MOS), Peer Advocate Service (PAS), Wellness Program, and Chaplain Services to employees and their immediate families experiencing organization, behavioral, or personal problems which can adversely affect their ability to function on the job effectively, efficiently, and safely.
Such problems may include, but are not limited to, marital or family distress, emotional or psychological difficulty, substance abuse, financial hardship, catastrophic illness, compulsive gambling, stress disorders, organizational distress and exposure to critical incidents, depression, or other behavioral health concerns.

| Employee Assistance Program (EAP) |
|
The EAP offers prevention, identification, intervention, assessment, short-term problem resolution, motivation for treatment, referral to treatment, spiritual guidance, organization consultation, and follow-up to clients seeking assistance for such problems.
History has shown that employees may experience behavioral or personal problems, which if unresolved, can have a profound effect on their overall well-being and job performance. Consultation with and assistance to work organizations through organizational development processes can enhance management's value for quality performance.
The confidence and success exhibited in past events has reinforced the need of OEOD for assistance with the resolution of work related problems in order to benefit the employee, their families, and the organization
Definition of the term EAP:The work organization's resource that utilizes specific functions and skills (EAP Core Technologies) to enhance employee and workplace effectiveness through prevention, identification and resolution of personal and productivity issues.

Our Mission is to provide all levels of management with a wide range of consultative and training services that will enhance and develop management skills resulting in a more productive, healthy workplace and support the overall Mission of the Department.

A group of professionals possessing a broad range of formal education and training in business, human behavior, and consultative techniques, who are also knowledgeable about the mission, policies, procedures and culture of the Department of Law and Public Safety, Office of the Attorney General / Division of State Police. Our management services are committed to collaborating with managers and employees within the organization to bring about positive change through the use of process-based interventions. We pride ourselves on being a confidential service that designs interventions to meet the specific needs of our clients.

Wellness |

As part of the Office of Employee and Organization Development’s mandate to assist employee’s mental health, the Wellness Unit shall serve as a compliment to further provide the necessary services to support that function by educating, training, and empowering individuals to make healthy choices which will improve their overall health and well being.
The Wellness Unit’s main goal shall be dedicated to creating and providing high quality health-fitness and wellness services to the entire Department of Law and Public Safety employee community. Through the use of physical activity, exercise, education, training, and lecture series, participants will be supported in their quest for optimal fitness, health, and well-being.
To date, monthly presentations are scheduled within the Division of State Police and the Department of Law & Public Safety to enhance productivity and performance of all Department employees.
Examples of successful programs are:
- Step-by-Step Walking Program.
- Requests from outside agencies to serve as a guest lecturer on topics such as physical conditioning and performance.
- Numerous success stories with weight loss and increased morale within the organization.
- Lunch and learn seminars on topics such as skin cancer, diabetes, arthritis, and breast cancer.
- Affiliation with Working Well New Jersey.

Peer Advocate Services (PAS) |
- Liaison to OEOD as PEER Assistance support and
conduit to EAP

- Proactive Conflict Resolution Source for Members and Supervisors
- Respond and Coordinate CISM Services and Lead Statewide Disaster Support for First Responders

Chaplains |
Chaplains can provide spiritual guidance, religious referral, and general character assistance in times of an emergency or disaster, crisis, or emotional stress. Chaplains may be used in ceremonial functions such as funeral and memorial services, religious and civil ceremonies, public safety graduations, and as a member of the Critical Incident Team (CIT) in dealing with issues surrounding personal and family support.
- Chaplains will develop and plan annual survivor assistance and support programs
- State Police Chaplains may act as a liaison between local religious bodies or associations and the Division in an effort to promote or strengthen Community ties
- Chaplains are encouraged to visit sick and injured employees at home or in the hospital
