1989

Trooper Patrick J. O'Dwyer #4091

During a four-year period culminating in 1989, while assigned to Troop "C" Fort Dix Barracks and Hightstown Barracks, Trooper O'Dwyer effected over 400 criminal arrests, 200 drinking arrests and seized illicit contraband valued in excess of 3 million dollars.


1988

Trooper William T. Sweeney #3590

During 1988, while assigned to Troop "D" Moorestown Barracks, Trooper Sweeney effected the arrests of 94 persons on various criminal charges and seized in excess of $800,000 in illicit contraband and 31 loaded firearms.


1987

Trooper John S. Cuzzupe #3966

During 1987, while assigned to Troop "A" Woodstown Barracks, Trooper Cuzzupe effected the arrests of 80 persons after initiating 56 patrol related investigations. Seized as a result of his efforts was illicit narcotics valued in excess of 5.7 million dollars.


1986

Detective I Francis Simonetta #2928

During 1986, while assigned to the Investigations Bureau, Detective I Simonetta, while acting in an undercover capacity, gathered evidence against organized crime associates responsible for a large scale illegal gambling network. As a result of his efforts, 80 persons were arrested and $120,000 in cash was seized.


1985

Trooper II James E. Campbell #3233

During 1985, while assigned to Troop "A" Woodstown Barracks, Trooper II Campbell effected the arrests of 44 persons on various criminal charges and seized in excess of 170 pounds of cocaine and 145 pounds of marijuana.


1984

Trooper I Andrew Mastella #2796

During 1984, while assigned to Troop "A" Woodstown Barracks, Trooper I Mastella effected the arrests of 35 persons on various criminal charges and seized in excess of 100 pounds of cocaine and ½ ton of marijuana.


1983

Trooper Mark Weber #3474
Trooper James E. Campbell #3233

During 1983, while assigned to Troop "A" Woodstown Barracks, Trooper Mark Weber and Trooper James Campbell, the co-recipients of this year's award, were responsible for the seizures of controlled dangerous substances valued in excess of 3.5 million dollars. Information developed by Troopers Weber and Campbell as a result of one arrest revealed the subject arrested was responsible for laundering 250 million dollars in illegal narcotic profits through international bank accounts.


1982

Trooper Brian Caffrey #3295

During 1982, while assigned to Troop "D" Moorestown Barracks, Trooper Caffrey was responsible for five major seizures of controlled dangerous substances valued in excess of 1.2 million dollars.


1981

Trooper Nicholas F. Theodos #3463

During 1981, while assigned to Troop "D" New Brunswick Barracks, Trooper Theodos was confronted by an armed assailant and was fired upon. While maintaining his composure, Trooper Theodos returned fire in his own defense and that of another trooper ended the bizarre encounter.


1980

Trooper John Wild #2726

During 1980, while assigned to Troop "C" Fort Dix, Trooper Wild disregarded his own safety and rescued the driver of a tractor trailer who was trapped in his overturned vehicle. During this same year while off duty, Trooper Wild again disregarded his own personal safety when he wrestled a handgun away from and arrested a subject who was firing at patrons in the Cherry Hill Mall.
