Kathleen Frangione To Serve as Acting Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection

TRENTON – New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Commissioner Catherine R. McCabe is traveling outside of the state for the month of September. During this time, Kathleen Frangione will serve as Acting Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.

Frangione is currently the Chief Policy Advisor for Governor Phil Murphy. She previously managed the environmental practice of the Signal Group, a Washington D.C. based policy and political consulting firm. Previously, Frangione served as Senior Policy Advisor for the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee under then-Senator John Kerry, leading Committee and Senate efforts related to climate change and other environmental priorities

Prior to serving on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Frangione was a legislative staffer for Senator Kerry, where she was responsible for all domestic and international environmental issues. She previously managed advocacy and communications for two national environmental and conservation organizations. She has an undergraduate degree in Environmental Science from Harvard College and holds a master’s degree from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.
