Sean Cullen was born in Dublin, Ireland, in 1985.  He immigrated to the United States in March 1988.  In 2003, he graduated from Cinnaminson High School and was an All-American wrestler at Lycoming College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice.

After graduating college in 2007, Trooper Cullen worked as a Class II Police Officer in Sea Isle City, Cape May County and Mount Holly, Burlington County Police Departments.  Additionally, he served as a patrolman for the Westampton Police Department in Burlington County for two years.

Trooper Cullen enlisted in the New Jersey State Police on August 29, 2014, as a member of the 154th Class and was assigned to Troop “A” where he served at both Buena Vista and Bellmawr Stations.  His service with the New Jersey State Police was characterized by loyalty, fearless performance of duty and faithful and honorable devotion to the principles of the New Jersey State Police.

On March 8, 2016, at 8:15 PM, Trooper Cullen responded to an accident at milepost 23.4 on I-295 south in West Deptford, Camden County, when he was struck by a passing vehicle.  He sustained severe injuries and was flown to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, where he was pronounced dead.

Trooper Cullen is survived by his fiancé, 9-month-old-son, his parents, two brothers and a sister.  Sean Cullen was 31 years old.
