Troopers Charge Man with Assault by Auto and DWI

Robbinsville Township, N.J. - The New Jersey State Police have arrested Jason Kennett, 35, of Danielson, C.T., after he fled the scene of an accident that injured another driver.

On Monday, March 20, at 3:50 p.m., troopers responded to a hit-and-run accident southbound on the New Jersey Turnpike at milepost 64.7. When troopers arrived on scene, they located an overturned Subaru and rendered aid to the driver, who suffered moderate injuries.

Investigators learned that the driver who caused the crash fled the scene, but were able to locate the front bumper of his Chevrolet Malibu, which had the license plate still attached. Troopers searched the area and found the driver and his car in the Richard Stockton Service area. After a brief investigation, troopers arrested Kennett for suspicion of DWI.

Jason Kennett was charged with assault by auto, DWI, refusal to submit to breath samples, and disorderly conduct. The driver of the Subaru was transported to Trenton Regional Medical Center and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Charges are mere accusations and the accused are considered innocent until proven guilty.
